Sometimes we take for granted that lofty beautiful spaces always have an underbelly. The necessary and sometimes less picturesque footings are as essential to the views and can be serene escapes. There is beauty in the underbelly.

Last week, I took a ride out of Newport Beach for a whale watching cruise on the Nautilus and we saw one whale and several pods of common dolphins.
This is a juvenile grey whale 🐋 making a late migration from Baja California where they mate and give birth toward Alaska where they feed during the summer months. Estimated to be between 30 and 40 feet long.
